Inferred Consent

Inferred Consent is where there is an existing relationship between you and the recipient. The relationship must be with respect to the email being sent. You may not, for example, send a commercial email message about personal matters where your existing relationship relates to business matters.

Examples of where consent may be inferred are:
  1. a recipient has provided an electronic address when purchasing goods or services in the general expectation that there will be follow-up communications;
  2. on-line registration of a product or a warranty;
  3. a recipient has provided an electronic address with the understanding that it would be used in communications.
